The positivity rate of our community, along with vaccination status and area health conditions, will determine how we commit to conducting ourselves on campus this fall. We will be responsive to the rapidly changing dynamics and provide updates on health and safety protocols as needed.

春天 Term 2022 Protocols
Effective January 30, 2022

We thank you for your renewed efforts and dedication to keeping our campus healthy and safe in the midst of the highly transmissible Coronavirus variants.

Masks are required indoors for everyone in classrooms and in all buildings across campus.
Guests and visitors will need to wear masks in indoor spaces. Guests and visitors who are not 接种疫苗 are encouraged to wear masks at all times.
All buildings remain card-access 只有.

春天 Term Class Schedule

The 春天 Term will begin on Tuesday, 2月1日, with classes offered remotely to allow completion of COVID-19 PCR testing.

The first day of classes is Tuesday, 2月1日.
All classes on Tuesday will be remote for all students.

To attend in-person classes, students must test negative and a green badge is required.

春天 Term Re-Entry Testing | Jan. 31 & 2月. 1

COVID-19 PCR testing is an essential element of our shared commitment to identify test-positive cases and mitigate the spread of infection.

All students including those who commute must be tested on campus with a COVID-19 PCR test, or provide a valid PCR negative test result to Health 服务 taken within 48 hours of your return to campus.
Testing will be in Majors Chapel (small chapel) in Wynne Chapel.
- Monday, January 31, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. 4点p.m.
- Tuesday, 2月1日, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. 4点p.m.
Students will be assigned one of the two days for testing, but may show up at any time during the testing windows.
To manage high volume, it is important that students test on their assigned day.
In-season athletic teams will test at the direction of their coaches.
At-home tests and rapid antigen tests are not valid for re-entry.

If a Student Tests Positive

Health 服务 will notify 教师 and student work supervisors of students who test positive.
Students have the responsibility to contact their professors and make up any missed classwork.

Re-Entry Testing for Employees

Employees who have been working on campus during the month of January are not required to be tested at this time.
Any employee who was not working on campus during January needs to be tested before returning.
Testing will be in Majors Chapel (small chapel) in Wynne Chapel, and employees may test at any time on either day.

Masks Required Indoors at All Times

Please take a moment and review the CDC mask guidelines updated on January 14, 2022.
Single-layer masks are particularly less effective against the Omicron variant.
Consider double-masking or wearing well-fitting masks with at least triple-layer materials.
Because of the highly transmissible nature of the Omicron variant, and for the welfare of our community, everyone on campus is expected to wear masks indoors in public spaces at all times.

Please continue to diligently adhere to all COVID-19 behavioral protocols. The vaccine is encouraged but not required. You may use this confidential link to submit vaccination and booster records.

ROUTINE COVID-19 PCR TESTING

Will the campus population be tested routinely?

Routine COVID-19 PCR testing for all students, 教师, 和工作人员 will be conducted throughout 春天 Term 2022. Individuals will receive an email directly about once a month on when and where to be tested.

We are fortunate to have PCR testing right on campus, but if you prefer a doctor’s test off campus, get approval from Health 服务 or Human 资源 first and submit your results to health@todaycashadvance.com following the test. Only COVID-19 PCR tests administered by an authorized agent qualify.

Can anyone be tested on campus?

If I test positive, what happens?

Students will need to contact Health 服务, regardless of whether you are 接种疫苗 or showing symptoms. You may contact by phone or email.

All health information is kept strictly confidential.

At this time, visitors will need to wear a mask indoors on campus.
We encourage visitors who have not been 接种疫苗 to wear a mask at all times while on campus, whether indoors or outdoors.

How will courses be delivered?

Courses will be delivered remotely the first day of classes, 2月1日, to accommodate COVID testing of all students. Starting 周三, 2月2日, courses will be delivered face-to-face, with the expectation that students will be physically present in the classroom for all class sessions.
Students who seek accommodations or technology-facilitated adaptations to address documented learning style differences or disabilities should connect with the Austin College’s Academic Skills Center at 903.813.2454.
Students who are sick or need to miss class for any reason should contact their professors directly.

STUDENT LIFE & DINING SERVICES

How will dining services be kept safe?

Capacity limits will be in place to facilitate physical distancing.
The dining hall will be closed for one hour between meal times in the afternoon to allow time for the surfaces to be sanitized.
Hand sanitizer stations are located at the entrance and throughout the dining hall. Everyone is encouraged to sanitize their hands often.
Austin College and Aramark, our partners in food service, reserve the right to adjust the program as needed and in response to any guidance provided by governing agencies and/or the CDC.

Close Contact

A close contact is anyone who was within 6 feet of a test-positive person for at least 15 minutes with or without a mask. An infected (symptomatic or asymptomatic) person can spread COVID-19 starting 48 hours (2 days) before the person has any symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19. Someone who is identified as a close contact would be required by Austin College Health 服务 to quarantine, if not fully 接种疫苗..
What qualifies as close contact? For example, 室友, study group seated closely at one table, someone seated less than 6 feet away from a classmate, unmasked friends on an outdoor swing for a long conversation.
What does NOT qualify as close contact? For example, passing in the hall, sitting across the classroom, a brief conversation while outdoors and masked, being in class or participating in activities where everyone is masked and practicing social distancing.
